Our Studio space comes with a lighting rig, enabling photographers to shoot with various lighting effects. The Studio space is available for any photographic opportunity, not just for cars. We have an in house photographer who is bookable on a minimum half day rate, or alternatively you are welcome to bring your own or if the amateur in you is bursting to get out, bring your own camera and play away to your heart's content.
On our mezzanine floor we have a bespoke built Cyclorama or Cyc which enables us to offer a variety of options to our clientele. This is known as an infinity background to suggest unlimited space, the idea being that for stills photography and also for film and TV, a customer would have the option to photograph/film a chosen car and be able to manipulate it onto any image.
Our Cyc background comprises a 90 degree intersection between two curves, known as coves, that measure 8x8x2.2 m.
Cycs are used for a variety of purposes within the television and film media, photography, and virtual reality industries. In still photography, the advantage of a cyc background is the ability to make your background almost 'disappear,' which leaves countless options for lighting and allows whatever product you are shooting to be the main focus.
In television or film media, whether you are shooting a commercial, a news piece, or filming a video, a cyc background again provides several possibilities. Many Car commercials are actually shot against a Cyc background! In the virtual reality industry a cyc background is not just beneficial, it is absolutely essential. The computer systems that produce the virtual backgrounds and special effects which you are seeing in more and more movies and various video applications, require that filming be done against an absolutely seamless (no visible corners or shadowing) backdrop which is then painted a very specific shade of blue or green otherwise known as bluescreen / greenscreen. Chroma key is a method for mixing two images together where a colour from one image is removed revealing another image behind it. A good cyclorama studio is the perfect solution to meet that need and is great for working with digital photography backgrounds too.
